Overcome

I know, I’m weird. This morning while eating breakfast I thought about this and wanted to share it with you so I had to do some research and write it all down. So it took some time because I want to always be sure that what I share is correct (at least according to me) and complete.

The word overcome according to my dictionary means:
Overcome: to conquer, to make helpless or exhausted.

In the scriptures one of the verses says:
1 John 4:4

4 You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.
NIV

So, according to my research, overcome means to conquer and we have overcome the World because of the One who is in us.

Now, think about that. It’s pretty astounding! As humans everything that we can see or think or do is of this World but because of the One who lives in us WE HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD!

So now nothing that we see or think or do is just a normal thing, it’s a God thing! We’re not of this World, we have overcome it!

Finally, so much makes sense to me!

Why am I alive?

I have gone through 8 months with no pneumonia. How is that possible?

And several other things that I won’t name.

Why?

Because the One who is in me has overcome the World. So what I can see and think and do is not of this World. Things are on His terms now not my terms.

And that explains why this World is not my home. I’m just passing through. On His terms not mine and the World doesn’t see things that way.

Nope.

If the World can’t see it then it isn’t real. And because of that it can be difficult at times for us to imagine.

That’s why I view my human life as such a blessing from God.

Because continually according to this World I should be humanly dead but I’m not.
