While it was still night, way before dawn, he got up and went out to a secluded spot and prayed.

Note this: He was praying, at night and alone. He didn’t try to impress people because He didn’t have to, He simply talked to God. There were plenty of reasons for people to hear him talk but He talked in the places wherre people went to worship and prayed by Himself.
