I’ve NEVER had so much trouble simply writing something before but I have with this and regardless I WILL WRITE IT!

I have seen things over and over again that say “They have to bring their best game”. Meaning their best talents or do their best. Now, I know that you know what I’m talking about.

People feel that they have to be the best in order to win in life. We are raised that way and we raise our kids that way. But why?

This may just be too simple for me now but I used to feel that SAME WAY! As a child it was my goal in school, and as an adult it was my goal at work. Then it became my goal in life! In fact it was my goal in everything!

Colleges, degrees, houses, cars, money, etc. ALL tell others BIG THINGS about us and where we’ve been and what we’ve been through to get where we are today.

Now that I am nothing and have nothing and no one I can see where this is coming from.

The Bible tells the story of one who always had to be the best – Satan. He was thrown from Heaven and now controls the Earth. And he has been overcome.

But since he rules the Earth and time is not over yet, he still feels the same way and promotes the same thing, remember Adam & Eve? He didn’t really say that you would die…

Satan still feels that he is better than God but we know different! He’s not!

WELL BEING

There’s a commercial by Purina that says “Well Being, we’re all striving for it.”

At first that feels good, but when you read the Bible it doesn’t make sense.

The ruler of this world (Satan) was striving for that over God, and he lost his place as an Angel.

Satan runs this world.

So of course we’re striving for it.

But when you’ve been blessed as I have “Well Being” has been taken away and I constantly win.

Grasp this right away. Satan may rule but God is in charge. But everything, and I mean everything is pointing towards YOU. Now that makes no sense because God is God and you’re not.

That’s how I live.

My desires don’t matter.

My goals don’t matter.

I am God’s child and so are you.

No question that God has been involved in my life.

The only question is Why?

I lived normally and quite successfully as a human for 42 years. Now at 51 I’m very handicapped and very poor and very happy.

I am getting better and better while others feel that I will die soon.

I can’t remember my education. I can’t remember what I used to do. Memory is not something that I have. A wife, kids, parents or sister is not something that I have. But I do remember and am passionate about God.

I am happy only with God.

So my conclusion is that nothing has changed. Things have changed but I have always been God’s child. I am alive as I am because God loves me, and that feels very good.

I was watching TV and it seems that all I see is constant complete competition. Who’s going to be the best? Even commercials!

Why in the world are people so concerned with that?

Duh! How do people start? Everything is developed to show children (who become adults) if they’re good enough!

Jesus said that the Kingdom of Heaven was for people who were like children. Good enough wasn’t part of that description.

So being good enough doesn’t impress God. If it did, Jesus would not have come and saved us because we weren’t being good when He came.

So finally I know why I’m here. I’m here to teach people that God doesn’t expect us to be the best. He expects us to have faith in Him, not in ourselves!

I got up late this morning. My roommate and her baby had gotten up before me.

When I went out there to eat breakfast my roommates child (who was up alone) kept looking at my cereal and at first I was afraid that she would try to take it but them I thought differently. I got her a bowl and her cereal and I poured some in that so that she could have her own and be happy.

Then it came to me that Jesus said to be like a child, so I thought To have her is quite a gift from God. I wouldn’t normally have her so I can do my best and be thankful.

What a wonderful gift!

God loves me and what I do is very important!

I just watched “Chopped” on Food Network. People came together to compete against others and impress the judges. Was one cook better than the others? I don’t know cuz I wasn’t there, I’m not a cook and I’m not a judge.

But the ultimate judge (who has been very kind to me) does live in me, so whether or not I can be a judge doesn’t matter.

People ALWAYS HAVE TO BE RIGHT AND PERFECT, but I was not right or perfect and yet He loved me. In fact to even come into this world He loved me and I wasn’t born yet.

So maybe it’s not good to have to be right or perfect, maybe I just need to love others cuz that’s the spiritual example that I have. We all have that same spiritual example. So maybe we should all be more concerned with loving others instead of trying to be right or perfect.

In this world we view things very differently. We seem to feel that we must be the best.

This morning I went to Church and in Sunday School we talked about that. Then tonight I was watching a show on Food Network called: The Worst Cooks in America and it was about that same thing. Here were normal people who came to this show because their friends or family think they are the worst cooks.

So naturally I assumed that the goal of the show was to help the worst be the best, but I have soon realized that the goal of this show was to teach someone how to appear to be the best!

One by one the people have been sent home as being “not good enough” or “the loser” so I have realized that the goal of the show is to make someone become “the best”.

That’s pretty common in our society. Everything that we do, from our birth, is based on measuring up to standards, societal standards. We have to be the best, that’s how we win. And we must win in Society.

Which is odd because according to Scripture God has given us what we do not deserve. So we know that we’re not the best and that’s ok because Jesus was so we don’t have to be. Which is what faith is all about! However, this world tells us that we have to be the best. So that standard is clearly not God’s and it’s not what faith is about.

So if God is not driving this, then who is?
